Be Happy and Give Thanks

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5
I must say that for several years i have noticed a trend in our culture, a tendency to go from Halloween to Christmas. The issue i see is we are skipping something vary important, something critical that we must do..... Give Thanks. As soon as October comes to an end santa pops up everywhere, people listen to Christmas carols for two months, but we never stop long enough to say thank you to our God.

Thanksgiving has been celebrated in a fest like fashion ever since 1565 in Florida, to 1607 in Virgina, and 1621 in Massachusetts. It was a time to celebrate the harvest they had been given and take time to thank God. But now we live in a society where companies want you to go from spending money on candy to buying presents fro each other. All because they don't make that much money on Thanksgiving.

Take extra time this month to show appreciation to others, show how grateful a christian can really be.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
If we show others the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, they will get a real glimpse of Jesus. Give God even more praise than you normally give him, realizing every day is a gift from him.

Rejoice always,17 pray without ceasing,18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17
Show your children how to praise and thank God. I am so happy to see this last scripture was my daughter's memory verse for school this week so as i help her learn it i am reminded myself that my God is a good God!
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34
